Today I watched a video that spoke on the waiting. It is the in between moment of deliverance and the promise. The in between. The waiting. The, “Oh my God, where are YOU?” In this season of my life, in transition, I am in that exact location.
In the time it took me to write the first paragraph to this moment, I have actually come to a new understanding of it. I’ve come to appreciate the inner work that needs to be done. Understanding that the kingdom truly is within and that God will do a work IN you. It is the goliath defeated by the power of God. What I found interesting about that is what happens after. It’s not usually talked about. I love that the Israelites immediately charge after David kills Goliath. To me, it feels like a representation of the physical body ready for war after the inner giant has been defeated.
Trauma can feel like a giant. Fear can feel like a giant. They say the battle is truly in the mind..and I believe that. I live that. In my experience, God has shown me that He is fighting for me. Not only on this physical plane, but on the mental as well. There is a line from one of my favorite Shane & Shane songs, “Psalms 46 (Lord of Hosts)” that sings:
“O God who makes the mountains melt
Come wrestle us and win”
I take comfort in knowing that the God who fights for me, wins. I take comfort in knowing these giants…these shadows..MY shadows..that sometimes feel all consuming, are no match for the light inside..which is my God who lives in me. It empowers me to know I am on the shoulders of the creator of the universe. There is none greater than Him.
I am comforted. I am in a space where I’m able to believe in myself and be unafraid of the waiting, but instead, welcome it. I know the beauty is in the details and some of life’s greatest masterpieces are full of layers.
